Taking a Stand

In these unsettling times it becomes clear that we need to take a stand for what is right and stand together for a better tomorrow for all of us. It feels so overwhelming to think about “what I can do to fix the problems in the world?”. Yet it really is simple and starts with each of us.

Growing up I was taught that all people, no matter their color or gender, should be treated with dignity and respect as a fellow human being. This is so simple and yet it has become hard to practice because society tells us this is not true. It happens in small ways and in huge tragic ways. Each of us can address small ways and as those add up the huge tragic inequities will be intolerable.

Here are some simple ways we can all take a stand for what is right and stand with those who are put down, shutdown or let down by those around them. These ideas apply to daily life and work.

If You Think You Can; You Will

Right now, looking at your task list and all the things on your plate can be an invitation to overload and hopelessness. We are working from home, dealing with kids at home, spouses/ partners working from home, uncertainty in the economy, questions about whether it’s safe to go out, on and on and on. On top of everything else you have dreams and goals that are important to you. So how do you move forward? How can you make it all work? What you believe is possible will determine what you accomplish and it’s okay to not get everything done right now. 

If you are confident in your abilities, you are more likely to get more things done. That confidence leads you be more positive about the impact you can have in you work and your life. In the past if you reached goals or prevailed in difficult situations you will have confidence in your ability to do it again. Past...
